Come In!

Yasmine Eid-Sabbagh

Yasmine Eid-Sabbagh is researching for Artist Meets Archive #2 at the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum in Cologne - Cultures of the World. With its important ethnographic collection, the RJM is participating in the residency programme for the second time. Eid-Sabbagh's work reflects the tension between collectivity and power. We are looking forward to her exhibition project at the Photoszene Festival 2021.

Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum - Cultures of the World, Lucia Halder

Lucia Halder is the curator of the historical photo collection at the Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum - Cultures of the World and tells us what the archive, which contains around 100,000 photographic objects, contains and what tasks the museum is confronted with in relation to this collection.

AMA Introducing Show

The AMA Introducing Show planned for the Mirko Mayer Gallery for the Photoscene Festival 2020 could not be realized under the travel and transport restrictions of COVID-19. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to present the works of the five international AMA artists* in the second edition of Artist Meets Archive - Anna Orłowska, Joan Fontcuberta, Philipp Goldbach, Yasmine Eid-Sabbagh and Rosângela Rennó.

Thekla Ehling

Artist Thekla Ehling will present her book project "Vergiszmeinnicht" on the occasion of Book Day. For this, she first chose her own favourite photo book: "Garten" by Arno Fischer, her mentor in Dortmund. This film shows how this developed into her own mind map and finally into the book.

Lichtblick Gallery

Wolfgang Zurborn and Tina Schelhorn have been managing the Lichtblick Gallery in Cologne for 34 years. How do you communicate, how do you present contemporary photography and bring it closer to a larger audience? These were the questions that the young photographers dealt with early on. Wolfgang Zurborn tells more about the history and idea of the gallery in this film.

Gallery Mirko Mayer

Gallery owner Mirko Mayer invites us to a short tour through the exhibition "Sidestep". On view is for example a work by Ola Kolehmainen, who was a participant in Artist Meets Archive last year. Also represented: Micha Cattaui, Moritz Karweick or Julia Gunter. The exhibition is open and can be visited.

Wertheim

Kunstvermittlung Klement would actually have shown "Frank Baquet, Photoworks" at Wertheim during the Photoszene-Festival 2021. Since the exhibition unfortunately had to be postponed, the photo artist and Oliver Struch, the owner of Wertheim, introduce themselves in this YouTube clip.
