The AMA Introducing Show planned for the Mirko Mayer Gallery for the Photoszene Festival 2020 could unfortunately not be realized under the travel and transport restrictions of COVID-19. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to present the works of the five international AMA artists* in the second edition of Artist Meets Archive - Anna Orłowska, Joan Fontcuberta, Philipp Goldbach, Yasmine Eid-Sabbagh and Rosângela Rennó.
The artists are expected to catch up on their research visits before the end of the year to work in the archives and institutions and to prepare the exhibitions for the Photoszene- Festival in May 2021. A selection of earlier works by the artists* shows their handling of archives or found photographic material. What the artists have in common is the reappraisal of the past or the photographic material, which they negotiate using different artistic approaches.
