For the first time in Germany, Galerie Bene Taschen presents a solo show on the photo cycle GOLD by Sebastião Salgado. He photographed the Serra Pelade gold mine in 1986. There, driven by greed, desperation and hope, 50,000 people embarked on a gold rush – an assemblage of values and words which reflect not only Western society, but are also exemplary of circumstances in Brazil, in relation to dealing with nature and workers.
