As director of the Klaus Peter Schnüttger-Webs Museum, Ulrich Tillmann (1951-2019) created an imaginary institution whose widely ramified departments were dedicated, for almost 40 years, to the oeuvre of the unknown universal genius. The product is a lively archive, built up by a specialist and artist with an eye for the poetic force of the mundane – a humorous and subversive look at the institution of the museum in the context of Cologne’s art scene.
